Brain Injury Complexity

I want to talk about Brain Injuries.

And in so doing, I'm going to say some things that might cause you to think twice about engaging in this world of creating operational measures and metrics from your adjuster Claim Notes.

Where am I going with this?

Well, my team has been working through extracting and reporting information on brain injuries this week.

And the reality is ... it's Complex stuff.

Why is it complex? Well, because it's hard to figure out exactly what should or should not be reported and identify when a brain injury is or is not going to have a significant impact on the settlement of a claim.

As you work through the process, we're going to come back to you with some fairly difficult questions, and you'll have to figure out what, as a Management Team, you do or don't want reported on brain injuries.

But here's the reality it's well Worth The Journey, because once you have it, you'll be able to look at claim files consistently, and you can look at all the variations of the different brain injuries.

In doing this, you open up a whole new world of being able to understand the judgment that adjusters are applying to the complicated topic of brain injuries.

By using technology to look at the population, it changes your ability to create a more uniform or institutional approach to dealing with complex situations.

So that's the reality. Brain injuries are complicated, and extracting and reporting the information is complicated, but it's worth the journey because you'll be a better claim team because of it.
